Being an author of some renown - the book you see here is one of mine - I want to know from you if you have any knowledge of publishing in your own right, a book that either you have written, or that you have published for some one else.
I have approached several so called publishers who are quite willing to publish my next book - but at a price. I should say right away that the publishers of 'Tring a Pictorial History' are definately not one of these. Phillimore, who did a superb job with this book are to be recommended, unlike some that I recently approached. Asking for anything from £2500 to over £3500, There are a few not to be recommended 'publishers' out there.

To overcome the expense of getting my next book published, and to have total control over it, I have gone along the road of 'going it alone'. With my faithful Power Mac and other bits and pieces, I have put together a superb (well I think it is) book titled 'Tring Born and Bred'. Almost 100 pages, A5 size, paper back, illustrated not only in black and white, but also in superb colour. Available from the middle of this year (1998) direct from me or from any book shop in Tring, the loveliest of all Hertfordshire market towns. And at £5.99 a copy a real bargain. By the way, I will be donating a maximum of £1 to our local history society (of which I am a member). So when it is released- GO AND BUY IT! A limited edition of 500 books, all individually numbered and autographed by yours truly.
NOW - why am I telling you all this? I want to know your experiences in the publishing world. If you are an established publishing house or a 'wanna be' then I want to hear from you. Relevant comments will be published here - sorry, but no prizes. - so get off your butts and start writing!
